Ministries
     
  Acolytes The ministry of the acolyte is to serve the clergy at the Altar. They participate primarily at the 10:30 Sunday service and special holy days.
  Altar Guild The Altar Guild is often referred to as "God's housekeepers". The primary duty is to assist the clergy by making necessary preparations for all services held in the church.
  Bereavement Committee Members of the Bereavement Committee meet with those who have lost a loved one to work with them to take care of funeral or memorial receptions.Committee representatives are available to assist the bereaved with decisions concerning a reception by providing information regarding options based on needs and costs. Each representative is assigned a specific month of the year and handles any situations that may arise during that month by meeting with the bereaved and their families.
  Bookstore The Bookstore is located in a room in the Parish Hall. It is open on Sundays from 9 am until 10 am, and after the 10:30 am Sunday Service.
  Coffee Hour/Fellowship Parishioners, friends, relatives and newcomers are all invited each Sunday morning to the Parish Hall for light refreshments - such as doughnuts, cookies, or coffee cake. There is always coffee brewing! Volunteers help provide these refreshments, either through actual purchase and bringing them in, or with monetary donations.
  Craft Group The Craft Group makes and offers items to be sold at St. Thomas' annual bazaar, as well as the Craft Table in the Parish Hall on Sundays.
  Daughters of the King St. Thomas has a newly formed chapter of the Daughters of the King, St. Genevieve, which meets on the first Thursday of each month at 9 am in the Wisdom Hall Parlor.
  E.C.W. (Episcopal Church Women) The ECW is an organization of and for women through which they are called and empowered by Grace to serve Our Lord through prayer, action, study, and fellowship. By virtue of their membership in The Episcopal Church, all women are automatically members of the ECW.
  Food and Comfort The Food and Comfort Committee visits and brings cookies to those in the parish who are shut-ins or recovering from illness or unable for some reason to participate in parish life.
  Lay Eucharistic Ministers and Lay Readers The Lay Eucharistic Minister is trained and licensed to serve as a chalice bearer and reader at Sunday services, holy days and additional services. The Lay Reader primarily reads the Old Testament passage at services.
  Lay Eucharistic Visitor The L.E.V. is a lay person trained and licensed to bring Communion to shut-ins and those who are temporarily unable to attend church.

  Men Of St. Thomas (MOST) The Men of St. Thomas is primarily a ministry of fellowship. The men gather together to get to know each other by sharing a meal, followed by an interesting program.
  Music Ministry The Music Ministry consists of both the Choir and Handbell Choir, working together to enhance the service on Sunday and feast days.
  Prayer Chain It is the ministry of the Prayer Chain to receive the names of those in special need of prayer and to pray for them daily.
  Prayer Shawl Ministry The Prayer Shawl Ministry provides crocheted and knitted shawls for those, whether adult or child, who are suffering from any form of bodily or mental illness, or just in need of comfort.
  S.W.E.E.P. What is the mission of the Church? The Episcopal Church‚Äôs definition of mission is set forth clearly in the Catechism of The Book of Common Prayer (p. 855)
  Thrift Shop The Thrift Shop operates through the efforts of volunteers who sort and mark clothing and items, clean the shop and help sell to the public when open. Proceeds are used for outreach.
  Ushers Ushers serve at 8 am or 10:30 am Sunday services, as well as on holy days and special occasions.
  Vestry The Vestry is the official governing body of a parish, responsible for temporal affairs, preparing an annual budget and providing for the necessary requirements and expenditures of the parish.
