“Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. You will be enriched in every way for your great generosity, which will produce thanksgiving to God through us; for the rendering of this ministry not only supplies the needs of the saints but also overflows with many thanksgivings to God.” (II Corinthians 9:7, 11-12)

St. Thomas is fully supported by voluntary contributions from members, visitors, and friends of the parish. All voluntary contributions are greatly appreciated. It is considered a duty of membership and a spiritual discipline for all members to give regularly for the support of the church. This generally comes in the form of pledging, whereby members make an annual commitment to their tithe, traditionally aiming towards 10% of their income. This has been expressed first through Scripture, and subsequently in various outlines of duties and expectations of church membership written throughout the years. The Church exists for the sake of those who are not its members, but it relies on the financial support of those who are to complete its mission. Financial statements are available with monthly vestry minutes, and the budget is discussed at the annual general meeting of parishioners each January.
